Pediatrics Physician at Summit Recruiting Group summary:

A full-time Pediatrics Physician position focused on hospitalist care at a remodeled pediatric inpatient unit in Sioux City, Iowa, providing comprehensive care to newborns and pediatric patients with support from multiple pediatric subspecialties. The role involves inpatient rounds, ED consultation, balanced shift coverage, and opportunities for quality improvement initiatives within a large, integrated non-profit health system. Pediatric Hospitalist opening in Sioux City, Iowa Located on Tri-State border of Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota Position Details:

  • Pediatric Subspecialty Support: Pediatric Radiology, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Infectious Disease, Neonatology.
  • Other support: General Surgery, Orthopedics and many other subspecialties available for consultation
  • 12-bed pediatric inpatient unit with brand-new remodel
  • Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on Epic EMR to improve care coordination
  • Average daily census of 5-7 in summer and 7-10 in winter (combination of newborn nursery and inpatient)
  • Round on unassigned newborns in newborn nursery (no NICU or Level 2 nursery responsibilities), circumcisions, ED and direct admissions of pediatric age patients, ED consultation when requested
  • No delivery attendance required. High risk deliveries are attended by in house NICU.
  • Tertiary hospitals located 90 miles North and South with visiting subspecialists
  • Average 10 shifts per month in 3-4 day increments with balanced weekend and holiday coverage
  • In-house hours from 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. On-call taken on a 1:3 rotation 3-4 shifts at a time with in-house Family Practice Resident coverage.
  • Flexibility in schedule exists within group
  • Opportunities for QI initiatives, hospital committee involvement and advanced Epic certifications if desired
