Job Purpose
An advanced lathe/mill Operator skilled tradesperson responsible for producing precision metal components in accordance with complex technical specifications. The operator must be proficient in interpreting intricate engineering drawings, creating technical sketches either by hand or using CAD software, selecting appropriate tools, and fine-tuning machine settings to ensure optimal production efficiency and quality.
Principal Accountabilities
- Adhering to all safety regulations and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Working with engineering and production teams to refine designs and processes.
- Setting up and operating CNC and manual lathes and mills. Programming, monitoring, and adjusting machines to produce complex parts.
- Interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Understanding GD&T symbols, blueprint dimensions, and tolerances.
- Choosing the right tools for specific machining operations, including cutting speeds and depths.
- Using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet tolerances and specifications.
- Identifying and resolving mechanical or programming issues to maintain production efficiency.
- Providing guidance and support to junior operators and sharing best practices.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance machining operations, reduce waste, and optimize cycle times through continuous improvement

Knowledge / Skills / Experience
- A comprehensive understanding of machining processes and principles.
- Proficiency in writing and modifying G-code for complex parts.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software for designing and programming parts.
- Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and other tools to verify dimensions.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
- Meticulous reading blueprints, selecting tools, and adjusting.
- Ability to collaborate with team members and share knowledge.
- Understanding and adhering to safety regulations and protocols.
- Proficiency in understanding blueprints and other technical documentation.

- The salary range for this position is $25.08-$35.40. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
