Looking for experienced caregiver/ ideally CNA for full time (40-46) hours Mon-Friday on an independent contractor basis. Example schedule: 9am-6pm (9hr shift) or 9am to 9pm (12 hr shift)
$28/hr pay for daytime and $20/hr for evening (after 6pm) caregiving work. Work with 5 residents with varying degrees of independence.
Currently 2 of 5 care home residents are very independent. 3 other residents have degrees of mild Alzheimer’s memory loss and need help with daily activities of living (assist with bathing, nail care, dental care, dressing, helping with toileting as needed, nutrition/ hydration reminders, taking blood pressure, supervision of medication administration, monitoring for any changes in condition and general supervision).
Some cleaning such as helping load dish machine after meals and put away dishes. Spot cleaning as needed, assist with laundry as needed, making beds daily, general wipe down/disinfectant high contact surfaces as needed, refilling supplies.
Caregiver needs to have a heart for and love to care for Kupuna (elders). May need to spend a lot of time during the shift doing companion care (doing art projects, playing games, singing karaoke, or just making conversation, go for walks, participate or lead exercise).
Needs to know how to care for residents who are in bed (diaper changes, assist to sit and transfer). Our residents typically are not bed bound but may have a temporary condition that requires care in bed.
The pace at the care home is slower paced. There’s time to get to know the residents and play an active role in ensuring they have a great quality of life. We have only female residents and they are all very lovely in their personalities.
Contractors have to calculate and pay their own taxes from the pay they get from the care home. We give a 1099 NEC annually to report what we paid. We can assist in explaining how it works. Your expenses can be deducted from income before you pay tax on your net income. You have pay this tax annually but are encouraged to pay estimated tax earlier than the April deadline.
Our caregivers pay income tax on the pay they receive from us and their self employment income tax they pay contributes towards their social security and Medicare payments.
For health insurance our caregivers report their income to Medicaid for help/ assistance with getting coverage, unless they already have coverage under someone else.
We don’t offer time off or sick benefits but we do offer bonus pay incentives for completing the scheduled shifts/ hours agreed to. As an independent contractor you can elect/ assist us with covering your schedule with other qualified caregivers if you are not personally available to cover it, so there is more flexibility than traditional employment. Especially if you needed take extended vacations.
We do offer 1.5x pay for 5 major holidays (New year’s, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and July 4th). Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions and to schedule an interview and share more about you, your experience and your availability.
We are also open to splitting the shifts into two part time shifts (averaging 20-23 hrs/ week). We have other caregivers who work with us as their second job.
