About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity available for a highly skilled Vessel Master to join our team here at Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney. This is a casual position, commencing May 2025.

In this role, you are primarily responsible for the safe operations of the vessel, assisting with compliance and on-board maintenance, providing leadership and management of crew, and ensuring guests who join us on our luxury vessel are provided with exceptional service in our premium dining space.

You will be a team player with strong communication skills, a positive "can-do" attitude, and the flexibility to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills by delivering exceptional guest experiences, while ensuring high team performance and professional presentation. They will foster crew growth through guidance and training, uphold safety and compliance standards, manage daily duties for marine crew and navigate Sydney Harbour effectively.

Requirements

About You

  • Must hold an MED 2 & Master <24m qualifications, or higher.
  • Provide First Aid & CPR (advantageous)
  • NSW RSA Competency Card (required)
  • Excellent customer service skills, dedicated to meeting the expectations of all guests.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with others.
  • Proficient vessel navigation in high-traffic areas, particularly in Sydney Harbour.
  • Strong people management skills, providing positive direction & constructive feedback.
  • Effective crowd management and public speaking abilities.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and proactive approach to tasks.
  • Creative problem solver with an action-oriented mindset.
  • A cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the welfare of others
  • Must be able to swim and not be affected by sea sickness. 

A pre-employment medical and National Police Check may be required as part of this recruitment process.
