About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director & Chief Philanthropy Officer to lead its nonprofit foundation, which is dedicated to supporting a naval and maritime museum. The successful candidate will be the top executive leader, responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of all philanthropic, development, operations, and community engagement activities. This role requires a visionary and entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record in major gift fundraising, nonprofit management, and team leadership. The Executive Director & Chief Philanthropy Officer will work closely with the Board of Directors and museum leadership to develop and implement long-term strategic plans, lead capital campaign initiatives, and ensure the Foundation's mission is effectively advanced. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director & Chief Philanthropy Officer include leading all fundraising initiatives, from major and planned gifts to capital campaigns and annual giving. The role also involves serving as the primary ambassador for the Foundation, cultivating relationships with donors and community partners, and overseeing operational and financial strategies to ensure the organization's sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and 7-10 years' of progressive leadership in nonprofit fundraising and management. They should be skilled in strategic thinking, financial acumen, and possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in a museum, cultural institution, or similar environment is also preferred.
