Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of Philanthropy for a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives through inclusive programs, community engagement, and advocacy. This is a full-time, onsite position located in the Aberdeen, MD area.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Philanthropy will lead major giving efforts and build meaningful relationships to support the organization’s mission and programs. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this role collaborates across teams and community stakeholders to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward significant gifts. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and an experienced fundraising professional deeply connected to the local community and committed to community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a diverse portfolio of current and prospective individual major donors.
• Develop and execute tailored strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward significant gifts, with a focus on five- and six-figure contributions.
• Work closely with executive leadership and the development team to set strategic fundraising goals based on donor data and organizational priorities.
• Maintain accurate records of donor engagement in the CRM and implement customized stewardship plans to deepen donor relationships.
• Build meaningful relationships in Harford and Cecil Counties by identifying individuals and entities aligned with the organization’s mission.
• Assist in the planning and execution of cultivation and fundraising events, including follow-up and donor conversion activities.
• Represent the organization at local community events and business networking functions to expand awareness and support.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in fundraising, including securing five- and six-figure gifts from individual donors.
• Experience using donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM systems).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a high level of energy, motivation, and initiative.
• Deep knowledge of and connection to Harford County, Cecil County, or surrounding communities.
• Ability to thrive in a non-bureaucratic, highly collaborative setting with direct access to leadership and open communication.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This salaried position offers an annual compensation range of $90-100K+ (DOE). The role includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring medical, dental, vision, employer-paid life and AD&D insurance, employee assistance program, voluntary supplemental benefits, PTO, tuition assistance, and a 403(b) retirement plan.
