POSITION: Adventure Tourism Guide
PAY RATE: $17.00-$18.00/hr

Rail Explorers Guides lead guests on scenic outdoor railroad rides using our top-of-the-line, electric-assisted rail bikes - ensuring safe, timely tours and a 5-star customer experience!
Successful guides are comfortable working outside and in nature, physically active, positive, outgoing, and have excellent customer service skills. Flexible start/end dates and flexible weekly schedules are available and extensive training is provided. Advancement is also possible within the company - Rail Explorers prefers to promote from within.
Rail Explorers is an eco-tourism company providing top-tier outdoor recreation experiences. We connect the freedom of the outdoors and the magic of the railroad in a unique and fun activity that can be enjoyed by all ages. There are currently six Rail Explorers Divisions, located in Amador, CA, Bluegrass, KY, Boone, IA, Cooperstown, NY, Phoenicia, NY, and Newport, RI.
Responsibilities:
Pedaling Rail Explorer vehicles, with motor assist, on 4-6 mile (8-12 miles round trip) excursions (2-4 tours per day).
Greeting and communicating with customers.
Safely rolling and manipulating Rail Explorer vehicles on foot.
Performing physical work outdoors, in the elements.
Understanding emergency protocol, assessing situations clearly and quickly and applying appropriate response.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment in a team setting.
Maintain a high level of professionalism in customer service in accordance with the Rail Explorers Code of Ethics.
Learn and maintain a high level of rail and road crossing safety and basic maintenance of Rail Explorer vehicles - training provided.
Checking in guests using an online booking system and selling merchandise.
Speaking in front of guests - approximately 40-60 guests per tour, following a script.
Adhering to any applicable COVID-19 guidelines.
Qualifications:
Required: Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Required: Ability to perform physical labor (lift minimum of 50lbs).
Preferred: Customer service experience, 1-2 years.
Preferred: Outdoor work experience, 1 year (or 1 season, if seasonal).
Preferred : CPR & First Aid Certification (provided)
Preferred: Driver's License.
Rail Explorers Operating Days:
_Rail Explorers is a seasonal outdoor tourism operation, opening and closing dates will vary by location and weather conditions._
May: 5 Days/Week (Thursday - Monday)
June - September: 7 Days/Week
September - October: 5 Days/Week (Thursday - Monday)
Rail Explorers Catskills Division season begins April 27th. Shifts are approximately 4 - 8 hours long but can be longer or shorter, depending on schedule needs and employee preference. New Hires will be expected to attend training April 13th & 14th and April 20 & 21st.
